Crystal Display launch ‘world’s largest panel’

Crystal Display Systems (CDS) has begun shipping what it claims is the world’s largest transparent LCD panel

The Samsung 70" full HD (1920 x 1080) TFT LCD panel with 4000:1 contrast ratio, is available as a panel only or panel plus custom power supply and interface solution, with HDMI input to give a ‘plug and play’ solution.

The firm claim that the 70" panel size will allow retail and industrial designers greater flexibility of design, with the opportunity to place larger items behind the transparent screen.

“Transparent technology is the latest development in display,” explains Crystal’s managing director, Chris Bartram.

He adds: “The industry has evolved from using just paper-type signage to digital, and now this is taking it to the next level where you combine that digital display with the actual product inside a showcase box.”

CDS initially started its transparent technology line with one product, and has now added several different sizes and designs to its range.

Bartram says: “We saw demand rise initially in our smaller display line, and now interest in the larger products is increasing. This is really a ‘test-the-market’ type product, because we had a lot of enquiries for larger panels before the technology was available, and now it is, it will be interesting to see if that demand becomes a reality.”

According to CDS, the 70" panel is suitable for applications such as retail, blue chip brands, industrial promotions, exhibition stands and museum pieces.
