Printing Charity issues rallying call

The Printing Charity has again issued a rallying call to help find those in the industry in need of help, at the annual Print Futures Awards held at the House of Lords

At the event Printing Charity chairman and Telegraph executive, Lord Black of Brentwood, praised the trustees for “turning compassion into action”, and reiterated a desire to do more.

He said: “The charity's task is as important today as it was when it was formed (in 1827). Over the last four years it has trebled the amount of people it helps, and wants to do more helping more people and more ages.”

The charity has recently changed its charter meaning that in addition to helping people and their families who have worked in the industry, it can also help people who have a desire to pursue a career in print.

With this in mind, it increased the amount of funding available to the Print Futures Award by £30,000,  meaning this year a bumper crop of print hopefuls collected bursaries worth up to £1,500.

Winners this year included a recent graduate who has founded a cheerleading trade publication, graphic designers, and a future industry salesperson.
