Breaking news: Sign and Digital UK hits 150 plus

With the nation’s largest trade show for the signage and wide-format industry firmly on the horizon manufacturers are lining up to make announcements about their presence at the show that's into new territory with more exhibitors signing up.

Organiser Rudi Blackett says: "We've now hit 150 exhibitors with more still to join creating great momentum with still more than a month to go. I know Roland are revealing something exciting at the show while other exhibitors have new products up their sleeve. The documentaries have also added to the appeal of the show which is very heartening."

Soyang Europe will be revealing their G-Floor product which uses the ground as its canvas. The high-tech new media, originally developed in the United States, is based on a high density, clear, flexible PVC substrate, capable of being printed on the underside, using either UV or solvent inks on a grand-format printer. It is hardwearing and can be used in shopping arcades, museums and stores as it has a thick layer protecting the integrity of the graphic.

Organisers have added a long list of talks, demos and debates at the Business Theatre and Signmakers’ Workshop

Ricoh UK is exhibiting for the first time this year. The company will use the show as a platform to unveil its new Ricoh Pro L4100 Series latex wide format printer which is commercially available from April 2014, in addition to running a Ricoh Pro C751EX digital press, demonstrating its MarcomCentral SaaS-based Marketing Asset Management (MAM) system and portfolio of Business Driver tools. MacromCentral gives sign makers and commercial printers an online portal to offer on-demand services, take orders, vary pricing and seamlessly pass work into their daily working prac-tices.

The event is not just about new products. Organisers have added a long list of talks, demos and debates at the Business Theatre and Signmakers’ Workshop. These will provide practical skills and identify new revenue opportunities for business owners looking to expand and improve their ser-vices in 2014. For instance the Hewlett-Packard workshops will explore the new digital solutions for wall decorations in the HP WallArt suite, while Vicki Hughes of Fugu Public Relations, will explore how public relations can help small business owners get ahead in their industry.

In the Direct to Garment Printing session, Colin Marsh from Resolute DTG will explain this new aspect of the industry and The British Sign and Graphics Association will also run workshops aimed at small businesses hoping get to grips with changing industry legislation.
