Evolution reduces super-wide-format costs with EFI

Prior to its recent installation, Northampton’s Evolution Graphics was outsourcing super-wide-format work when the volumes became too much. Now, the firm has turned to EFI to keep the work in-house and keep costs down.

Evolution has invested in the EFI Vutek GS3250LX Pro LED hybrid roll/flatbed printer, to aid with the wide-format volumes.

Not only has the firm been able to bring its production of super-wide-format products in-house, but the EFI installation has brought welcome cost reductions. Director, Andy Mycroft, comments: “It’s early, but we can already see there’s a lot more the Vutek GS3250LX Pro can do in terms of quantity. Its print costs are also a welcome saving over the flatbed. They’re at around a quarter of its cost.”

These are not simple 200 panel runs but a combination of large runs and small off-jobs, as well as back-printed acrylic—a real mix of jobs on various thicknesses of materials

Much of Evolution’s work surrounds illuminated displays, interior displays, and also panel production. With the Vutek in-house, the firm can produce around 200, 2440 x 1220mm panels each day for its customers.

Mycroft adds: “These are not simple 200 panel runs but a combination of large runs and small off-jobs, as well as back-printed acrylic—a real mix of jobs on various thicknesses of materials.”

Evolution has 45 employees and ten two-man installation teams which work across the UK, installing signage for property developers and retail stores.
