A step in the right direction

Wayfinding signs are highly useful for directing people around unknown areas, but can be difficult and expensive for end-users to manage.

Display Signs has launched a solution, Indicia, for the easier management of wayfinding signs

A solution has been launched from Display Signs in Uxbridge that will simplify the life of those who have to manage these signing programmes, and is already said to be ‘working well for everyone’.

Making the designing, manufacturing, and installation of wayfinding signs hassle-free is a new system—Indicia—which has piloted in the care and assisted living sector, an environment that requires high standards of sign legibility.

Display Signs’ solution focuses on single plates of rigid materials which are often secured to a surface with stand-off mountings or other fixing systems. This will replace highly complex systems relying on aluminium profiles, plates, and other parts which contribute to higher costs.

Display Signs' new solution, Indicia, will help people manage wayfinding signs

Each plate can feature a single message or design and is not dictated by rigid requirements of a more complex system. Also, Indicia claims to be easier to install with the result of a secure and permanent sign.

In terms of design, there are many possibilities as the system uses printed detail to define its overall layout.

Typography, pictograms, and logos can all sit next to each other on the same plate. The design will not pick up dust or peel off the plate.

Repeat orders are not a nuisance as Display Signs archive every design. This means customers can repeat orders or add new data by referring to original designs. Signs are manufactured using a Tekcel router and a Hewlett Packard printer.
