Agfa takes SGIA’s Triple Crown

Following the huge fanfare surrounding the launch of its brand new stable of wide-format inkjet technology, Agfa has been basking in the glow of a job well done after winning the prestigious ‘Triple Crown’ at SGIA Expo’s Product of the Year awards.

The Anapurna M2540i won in the ‘UV Flatbed ($100,000 to $200,000)’ (£66,000 to £132,000) category, the Jeti Mira took home the ‘UV Flatbed ($200,000 to $500,000)’ (£132,000 to £329,700) title, and the Jeti Tauro won top honors in the ‘UV Hybrid/Flatbed High Volume Production Class’ category.

We strive to provide our customers with winning solutions that benefit their business

“The competition validates the hard work and precision behind these inkjet systems. We strive to provide our customers with winning solutions that benefit their business,” says Deborah Hutcheson, director of marketing, Agfa Graphics, North America.

The award wins are also being backed up by sales on the ground in the technology’s launch year. Indeed, the first UK sale of the Jeti Mira has to Graphica Display (see p44 for more info), while Mark Latchford Screen and Digital Print says it has reduced its production times by “at least 50 percent” following the installation of an Agfa Anapurna M2500i.

“We needed, specifically, a digital printer with a large enough bed to accommodate 3 x 2.5m sheets of Foamex and Dibond material and 2.5m-wide rolls for banners and so on,” explains director of the firm Mark Latchford.

Further afield, Europe’s biggest promotional token producer, B-token, has also invested in a Jeti Mira to enhance the level of personalization and detail that is possible with its products.

Driven by Agfa’s Asanti software, it will even be adding braille tokens to its range by using the Mira’s varnish printing feature. The firm produces 40 million tokens a year for more than 60 countries.
