Elephant runs two digital presses, two large-format machines and a range of finishing equipment

Installed by PDP Solar over the Christmas and New Year period, the panels are expected to save the company some 64,350kg in carbon dioxide emissions each year, the equivalent of 215 trees planted and 500,000 light bulbs powered for a day.

Panels were installed in a field behind unit one at Elephant’s base.

It will not only reduce our reliance on the grid but will also make a huge difference to our energy bills

Jason Gadd, managing director of Elephant, enthuses: “We (Elephant) are really pleased that consent for this project was granted and it’s very exciting to think that our presses are now powered by solar energy.

"It will not only reduce our reliance on the grid but will also make a huge difference to our energy bills.”

He adds: “PDP Solar coped with some truly awful weather conditions during the installation and disruption was kept to an absolute minimum, the ground was like a quagmire at times.”
