Zapkut Inspire gong spurs business growth

Vertical panel saw specialist, Zapkut, has been recognised by business awards, Inspire, for the second time in three years—with the company reporting that the profile such recognition generates has helped its sales growth.

Zapkut’s Keith Bunker is presented with the Inspire 2012 Small Business of the Year award by Celador’s Paul Smith

The firm clinched the Micro Business of the Year award in 2009, and has followed up on this by sealing Small Business of the Year.

“It’s a huge honour to have won two Inspire awards. We have worked hard to build a business as robust and productive as our saws, so we are delighted with this formal recognition of Zapkut’s success,” comments the firm’s managing director, Keith Bunker.

“We recognise the need for businesses of all sizes to reduce costs while maintaining or improving their capabilities

The awards pay tribute to the most successful businesses in Hampshire—where the firm is based—and highlight what it is about such companies that have seen them succeed.

Bunker was presented with the award on the night by Paul Smith, chairman of Celador—which owns the event’s sponsor, radio station Kestrel FM.

Explaining that the firm has taken the recession into consideration with its latest product developments, Bunker says Zapkut has built a ‘comprehensive’ range of sheet cutting solutions for small operators.

“We have taken a proactive approach in the light of the recession,” explains Bunker, adding: “We recognise the need for businesses of all sizes to reduce costs while maintaining or improving their capabilities. Zapkut has built a comprehensive range of sheet cutting solutions for the smaller operator.

“We've listened to sign-makers, joiners, cabinet-makers, kitchen and bathroom fitters and other craftsmen, gained a clear understanding of what they actually need, and focused ruthlessly on delivering those features at prices they can afford.”
